Event Description
The Pilot Butte Challenge (PBC) is an exhilarating 1-mile walk or sprint up the Butte. It's a casual hike for some, a grueling race for others, and everything in between. For everyone, it's an opportunity to achieve a personal record (PR). All ages and abilities are welcome (ages 4 to 99 last year). Some of the world's best runners participate beside folks walking to the top for their first time. There's nothing like the PBC anywhere! Race medals are awarded three deep in over 36 age/gender categories. Medalists are listed on the legendary record boards in the park. Everyone gets a finishing medal thanks to Bend Heating. Enjoy family friendly pricing. The scenic course winds its way along the Nature Trail to the volcanic top nearly 500 feet above. The PBC is a community event. More than a dozen of Bend's finest companies make it happen. Proceeds from fees, fundraisers, and donations help the park rebuild and expand the fitness area after it was destroyed by a wildfire in July. AMAZING BEND TRADITION. * FAMILY PRICING * PARTY ON TOP! PIZZA, BEER, & MANY SURPRISES INCLUDED Popular VIP Spectator wristbands are back!

PBC TEAMS
Teams were a big hit in 2016 and 2017. This year we probably won't do teams due the transition to new ownership. We'll let you know if that changes this year. We're committed to doing teams again next year. It's a complicated component and we need to find the right person or company to do that part of the PBC.

SILENT AUCTION

Last year we had problems with the silent auction that still aren't fully resolved. If you were affected, please hold tight. Someone will be in touch and we'll make things right.
